Adjuster (Insurance Adjuster)

An employee or contractor for the insurance company who investigates claims and decides how much the insurer should pay, if anything.

In a personal injury case:
The adjuster is not your advocate. Their job is to save the insurance company money, even if they sound friendly.

What to know:

  • Be careful about giving recorded statements without legal advice.

  • Do not guess about injuries or how you feel; stick to facts.

  • You are not required to take the first settlement offer.
