Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI)

The point where your doctor believes your condition has stabilized and is not expected to improve significantly with more treatment, even if you still have symptoms.

In a personal injury case:
Many attorneys prefer not to settle until you reach MMI, so future medical needs and long-term effects can be properly evaluated.

What to know:

  • Reaching MMI doesn’t mean you are fully healed.

  • It helps estimate future costs, lost earning capacity, and ongoing pain.
