Release of Claims

A legal document you sign as part of a settlement, agreeing to give up any further legal claims related to the incident in exchange for payment.

In a personal injury case:
Once you sign the release and receive funds, your case is usually over for good.

What to know:

  • Read carefully; releases often cover all known and unknown injuries.

  • Ask questions before signing — you typically cannot reopen the claim later.
